Identifying the strategic challenges ahead Iran's incubators in the 10-year horizon

Abstract :
It is not long ago that in advanced countries, governments use the incubators as a mechanism to support technology-oriented small and medium industries. Considering the dominant view of governmental management in Iran on the one hand and the mission of incubators in preparing private startups to enter the market on the other hand, the management of incubators has always faced various challenges. By asking business leaders questions about their concerns and worries about the future, it is possible to identify their key concerns about today and the future so the goal of this research is to discover an image or images of what managers of incubators in Iran envision for the next 10 years, in the form of the strategic challenges and concerns they face. The method used is qualitative, using the content analysis method, and the target community is also the managers of incubators across the country. The research tool is 7-Question structured questionnaire that was completed by 38 people until the answers were saturated. By titling and categorizing the 292 obtained responses, 77 proposition were identified, and by analyzing these proposition, 8 overarching themes around the concerns and challenge ahead incubators were obtained: 1- Human capital, 2- Domestic infrastructure, 3- National position, 4- Policy making situation, 5- Private sector participation, 6- Political situation of the country, 7- Technological situation of the country and 8- Economic and social situation of the country.
